If I Had My Life To Live Over.........

This was written after Erma Bombeck found out she was dying from cancer!

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more "I love you's" More 'I'm sorry's.'

But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute. Look at it and really see it . . live it and never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what!
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

Koos van der Merwe.......

Koos van der Merwe werk by 'n Dokter!

"Nee", sê Koos "Toe gooi ek vir haar Eyegene in haar oë"!

Something Nice......

I love recipies, especially if it's simple and straight forward to make. Well I found just such a recipe in our weekly De Kuile Weekblad.

It's called Aartappelkoekies "Potato cakes"

Jy sal die volgende bestandele benodig:
3 Aartappels
25 ml Koekmeelblom
5 ml Sout
60 ml Gerasperde cheddar kaas
2 Ekstra-groot eiers
180 ml Fyn gedreineerde Tuna

Labels Limits Us

"When I let go of what I am,
I become what I might be."
                                                                             -- Lao Tzu

How do you define yourself, to yourself and others?
Are you first and foremost a husband/wife? A mother/father?
A bus driver, dentist, musician ... ? A Christian, Moslem, Jew ...?
A nag, joker, dreamer ...?

Be aware that any label puts limits on you.
Today, experience how it feels to let go of the labels
to rest in ‘I am.’
Feel the freedom, the spaciousness, the infinite potential of
simply being.

"With every breath, the possibility of a new aspect of self arises."
                                                                           -- Wayne Muller

"As long as I am this or that, I am not all things."

Our Children........

This is our children, from left: Lucky, Mackey, Tammy, and Peppie!
Peppie actually belongs to my sister, but we basically cater for her !
The oldest is Mackey, she's turning 5 in a few months,
then its Lucky the unlucky cat, Peppie who's turning 4,
and last but not least Tammy.
She's the baby in the house at nearly 11 months.
As I said: they are our children and we love them dearly.
I can not image life without them.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Mel!

Hope you'll have a stunning day and year,
a year full of happiness and prosperity,
and may all your hopes and dreams come true!

Interesting Quote!

The Bible contains 256 references to the sins of heterosexuals, and only 4 to the sins of homosexuals. I’m not implying that God hates heterosexuals; they just need more supervision.

Anonymous Words Of Wisdom

It's easier to tell the truth - you don't have to remember anything.

He who learns most, talks least.

The problem with experience is that you don't get it until just after you need it.

Argue with a fool and people may not know the difference.

Wisdom is accepting that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

Most of us are open-minded about new things - as long as they're just like the old ones.

Wisdom In A Funny Story

There was a flood, and an old woman watched as the water came closer to her house. A man in a boat came by and offered her to help her.

"Thank you," she said, smiling, "but the lord will save me."

The water rose higher, and she had to go to the second floor. Another boat came by, and the people in the boat went to the window to rescue her.

"I'm okay," she told them. "I have faith in the lord. He'll save me." The boat left without her.

She was on the roof finally, with the water swirling around her feet, and a helicopter came. She refused their help too, telling them that she had faith and the lord would save her. Soon afterwards, the water took her away and she drowned.

When the woman arrived in heaven, she stepped before God and, crying, asked him, "Why didn't you help me? I had faith in you!"

"Not help you!" God replied. "What do you mean? I sent you two boats and a helicopter!"

The Choice Is Yours!

Wisdom is the sharing of wise experiences and knowledge,
but a lot of it is common sense.
The difference is how we apply this common sense -
we all have the ability to keep going even when we face challenges in our lives - basically it comes down to your attitude.
We can have a positive attitude towards life, or a negative attitude.
We can focus on the good or we can focus on the bad.
Keeping a positive mental attitude is one of the keys to success.
The choice is always up to you!

Look Who Came To Visit!

It's been a couple of weeks since we've last seen the Deyzel's, Annette's son Andre and daughter in-law Andrea with their son Aiden. Aiden now 2 years and 3 months has grown quite a bit! A little rascal if you ask me, but maybe I'm just getting old. We love him to bits and by the end of August we will have another grandchild. Mom and dad is hoping for a girl, they have even gone as far as making bets! Let's be otherwise and bet our money on a little brother for Aiden, as girls mos don't play as nice as boys!

Guess What Was For Supper?

So hoekom noem ek dit op my blog?
