Love Yourself...........
"It's surprising how many persons go
through life without ever recognizing that
their feelings toward other people are
largely determined by their feelings toward
themselves, and if you're not comfortable
within yourself, you can't be comfortable
with others."
-- Sydney J. Harris
"We have the need to be accepted and to be
loved by others, but we cannot accept and
love ourselves. The more self-love we have,
the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-
abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-
rejection comes from having an image of
what it means to be perfect and never
measuring up to that ideal. Our image of
perfection is the reason we reject ourselves
the way we are, and why we don't accept
others the way they are."
-- Don Miguel Ruiz
"There is no freedom like seeing myself as I
am and not losing heart."
-- Elizabeth J. Canham
"If we could learn to like ourselves, even a
little, maybe our cruelties and angers might
melt away."
-- John Steinbeck
Western Province Fed To The Sharks!

The Sharks were quite superb at feeding of Provinces’ mistakes and four tries to one is indicative of the Durban-based side’s dominance at contact and turn-over time.
Although we were freezing our %$$@ off, it was fantastic! Thanks to the Bonthuiz family for inviting us, even though I was supporting the Sharks!

We have silver in our hair.
We have gold in our teeth.
We have stones in our kidneys.
We have lead in our feet and.
We are loaded with natural gas!
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
As the world's best athletes poured into Beijing and the Olympic flame passed over the Great Wall, Games organisers sought to shift global attention to what they promised would be a spectacular celebration of sport.
For China, the Games are an opportunity to show the world how far it has come since the communists came to power in 1949 following a brutal civil war, and particularly the past three decades of phenomenal economic development.
Beijing - China's once-in-a-lifetime Olympic dream neared reality on Friday as the clock ticked down to the Beijing Games opening ceremony, but gloomy weather and tight security risked dampening the celebration.
True to Olympic tradition, the person who will light the cauldron remains a mystery, with the Chinese press writing off the prospects of China's two most-loved athletes, basketball hero Yao Ming and athletics champion Liu Xiang.
Team South Africa, made up of 131 athletes representing 19 codes. The largest representation is shared by athletics and aquatics, both of which have 25 athletes.
There are high hopes that the swimmers will deliver some medal winning performances and the men's 4 by 100 metre freestyle relay team will be going all out to defend the title they won four years ago in Athens in a world record time. No doubt, the world's media will pay plenty of attention to one member of the SA swimming team, namely Natalie du Toit. She will become the first amputee in history to compete against able-bodied athletes at the Olympic Games when she contests the women's 10 kilometre marathon swim.
All we can do is hope for the best!

Animals Matter To Me: Support the Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare
Help us achieve global recognition that animals matter, that they can feel pain and can suffer and that we have a responsibility to put an end to cruelty around the world. We seek 10 million signatures to let the governments of the world know we are serious about achieving a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare at the United Nations.
The scale of suffering for animals in the world today is unprecedented.
Around 60 billion farm animals are used each year globally to produce meat, milk and eggs. The majority are raised in industrial farming systems where their welfare needs are not met.
Globally, there are some 600 million dogs, and a similar number of cats, of which an estimated 80% are stray or unwanted.
The illegal and often inhumane trade in wildlife and wildlife parts is a soaring black market worth $10 billion a year, exceeded only by arms and drug smuggling. Millions of wild animals are killed, captured or traded inhumanely in this shady business.
An estimated 80% of power input on farms in developing countries is supplied by draught animals, however the resources made available are often woefully inadequate, leading to significant welfare issues.
Animals are also affected on a huge scale by natural disasters, though seldom considered.
Improving animal welfare can also improve the welfare of people relying on these animals. Over a billion people directly rely on animals around the world for their livelihoods. People rely on animals' companionship as well, and in many cases animals are considered part of the family.
For a global problem you need a global solution. Agreement on the importance of an issue affects people's attitudes, and people's attitudes affect their actions. A Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare would have a real, long-term impact on the welfare of billions of animals worldwide.
'Animals Matter To Me' represents the biggest ever global animal welfare initiative linking the entire animal welfare movement under one strategic goal - global recognition that animals are sentient beings, capable of feeling pain and suffering.

Dog's Letters To God........
From: The Dog
Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?
Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the ' Chrysler Beagle'?
Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths . What do humans understand?
Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please .
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog ...
1. I will not eat the cat's food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc . , just because I like the way they smell.
3. The litter box is not a cookie jar.4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
P . S . Dear God: When I get to Heaven, may I have my testicles back?
Kindergebedjie..........
Ek lief Jesus duisend, Liewe Jesus.

Purebred
"Purebred Police Dog $25."
Thinking that to be a great bargain, she called
and ordered the dog to be delivered.
The next day a van arrived at her home and delivered
the mangiest-looking mongrel she had ever seen.
In a rage, she telephoned the man who had placed the ad,
"How dare you call that mangy-mutt a purebred police dog?"
"Don't let his looks deceive you, ma'am," the man replied,
"He's in the Secret Service."
When Your Hut's On Fire........

When Your Hut's On Fire
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
The Moral of This Story:
It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

For The F1 Supporters: Heartbreak For Massa............

As a race, the 70-lap Hungarian Grand Prix is always somewhat processional and this year was no exception. However, the race was spiced up by some unexpected issues that took both Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa out of contention and handed Heikki Kovalainen the race win in the very final stages of the race.
Felipe Massa made an electric getaway from third position on the grid passing Kovalainen on the run to turn one and then braking late, passed Lewis Hamilton for the lead around the outside of turn one. It was a tremendous aggressive move and showing that his record breaking pace in the second round of qualifying yesterday was no fluke, the Brazilian was able to pull out a small advantage from Hamilton, a gap of four to five seconds he retained though the first round of pits stops.
Hamilton did not look to have an answer to Massa’s pace but the championship leader’s race took a further nose-dive as the front-left tyre failed on lap 42. Hamilton made his way slowly back to the pits and took the soft tyre for the remainder of the race.
Out front, Massa controlled the pace and allowed Kovalainen to slowly close the gap. It all looked to be perfectly under control until two laps from home when the Ferrari V8 failed in dramatic fashion handing the race win to Kovalainen and leaving Massa distraught.
It was certainly Kovalainen’s lucky day as he recorded his first Grand Prix victory.
The Finn did not have the pace of McLaren Mercedes team-mate Hamilton nor Massa in the Ferrari. Still, it was an error free run which launches his championship tally to within striking distance of the BMW Sauber duo of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica.
Timo Glock drove what is by far the strongest race of his career to finish second for Toyota, Starting from fifth position, Glock made the jump on Kubica and ran with Kovalainen for much of the race and while second position was perhaps a little fortunate, he was a contender throughout the race on pure pace and not a safety car intervention or an abstract fuel strategy.
Kimi Raikkonen finished in third position having followed Fernando Alonso for two-thirds of the race without making much of an impression. Some rapid pit work from the Ferrari crew gave him the track position and he was then able to close the gap to Glock before backing off in the latter stages following team-mate Massa’s engine failure. The result moves Raikkonen ahead of his unfortunate team-mate in the championship race.
Better luck next time Kimi!

Live Your Own Life
happy. We know, instead, what we think
SHOULD. We are baffled and confused when
our attempts at happiness fail...We are mute
when it comes to naming accurately our
own preferences, delights, gifts, talents.
The voice of our original self is often muffled,
overwhelmed, even strangled, by the voices
of other people's expectations. The tongue
of the original self is the language of the
heart."
-- Julie Cameron
We are each unique beings with a unique path in life.
If we wish to be fulfilled, we need to go to our own
hearts for direction. We might regularly ask
ourselves:
- "What do I really want to do?"
- "What brings me greatest happiness?"
- "How can I bring more of these into my life?"
Life wants us to go for what brings us most joy
and meaning.
