Fears Of Money

"We are all powerless as children, and money looms so powerfully... we don't grow up to claim our financial power until we look money directly in the eye, face our fears, and claim that power back."
                                                                     -- Suze Orman

How does money scare you?

In your journal, write down your greatest fears around money, and see what comes up. If emotions surface, as they undoubtedly will, let them come. Really feel your feelings, without judgment. They'll give you valuable information.

"In all realms of life it takes courage to stretch your limits, express your power, and fulfill your potential; it’s no different in the financial realm. In a buy-now, consume-now culture like ours, it takes courage to make the decisions today that may make us rich tomorrow. It takes courage to face up to the facts of old age and mortality and to prepare for them. It also takes courage to live generously, regardless of your financial state of affairs. ...It takes courage to ask for what you want. And it takes courage to live honestly, wisely, true to yourself ...and true to your desire for more."

Words Of Wisdom

Giving is just receiving inside out. When you light another's path, you can't help but to light your own path. Giving is like taking money out of one pocket and putting it into your other pocket. Give, Give, Give!

Maybe....

Maybe. . . we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe . . . when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often times, we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new one which has been opened for us.

Maybe . . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Maybe . . . the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe . . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

Maybe . . . you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.

Maybe . . . there are moments in life when you miss someone -- a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child -- so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you appreciate them more.

Maybe . . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

Maybe . . . you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too.

Maybe . . . you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe . . . giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn't, be content that it grew in yours.

Maybe . . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lves.

Maybe . . . you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Maybe . . .  you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy

Maybe . . . you should try to live your life to the fullest because when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling but when you die, you can be the one who is smiling and everyone around you crying.

New Addition To The Family - Nuschka

Hi there guys! In a previous post I told you that we were looking for a friend for Tammy our Labrador! Well early this morning we drove to Heidelberg, +- 280 km from where we stay to fetch our latest addition to the family, Nuschka!

She was born on the 22 September 2008. and was one of eight sibling of a German Shepherd mother and father a Labrador! We were quite fortunate to take the first pick, and of course we choose the quietest and most lovable face.

Unfortunately we've been unable to take any decent pictures as we've been on the road 70% of the day. Promise will take some soon and upload, here's one so long.

We had to introduce Tammy to Nuschka this evening and at first she was not impressed, a couple of minutes later it's going better, but with time I'm sure things will be fine, fingers crossed!

At the moment she's lying on my lap, while doing her post, already spoiled.

Happy Birthday Google!

F1 - Singapore Qualifying

Felipe Massa looks to be planning a repeat of his Valencia performance after he took a comfortable pole position for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday evening.

The Brazilian upped the ante after McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari team mate Kimi Raikkonen had set the fastest times, lapping his F2008 in 1m 44.801s. With Hamilton next on 1m 45.465s ahead of Raikkonen on 1m 45.617s, it is probably safe to assume that Massa is running to a lighter fuel strategy.

Hopefully Ferrari will stick to their guns tomorrow, we surely need the points.

Rugby: Sharks vs Lions

The Sharks installed themselves as Absa Currie Cup favourites as they dismantled the Xerox Lions 34-20 (halftime 3-8) in their crunch encounter in Johannesburg tonight.

Yes, we did it again!

Hello

Hello

Dog Hunting With Disappointment!

Today we went dog hunting! 8 Hours later, and we're still where we started. We decided to take Tammy our Labrador with, seeing that it's going to be her playmate, well that's where all the fun started, as every dog we like, Tammy disliked!

We started of with The Animal Anti Cruelty League, which I though will be the best place as you can pick and choose. OK, we picked and Tammy did not choose. We saw the most adorable Labrador, Cocker Spaniel cross, Tammy just growled. Next we had a look at a slightly bigger dog, not sure the type, but she had good manners and looked well, Tammy wanted to eat her up!

We then decided that maybe a puppy would be best as Tammy would not feel so intimidated.

Tammy (1year old)

None of the Pet Shops we visited had puppies that would be able to put up with Tammy's energy, so the next best place was the web! After another 2 hours searching the web, we're non the wiser. The next best thing is today's newspaper!

At last we found something, we will go and have a look tomorrow morning, and of course take Tammy with to decide. Please keep your thumbs cross!

The only other problem is the madam of the house, Mackey! She's turning 5 this year and rules with an iron fist, not even Tammy will take her on.

Mackey (5 years old)

Product Review - Emergency Mobile Phone & Mplayer Charger

Ever left your house or office without noticing your mobile phone's battery is nearly flat! Well I know lots of people that do, including me!

Today while browsing a hardware shop looking for something totally not this, I stumbled upon a little gadget that could just make life a little bit easier for people in need of a charger when none is available.

It's called an Emergency Mobile Phone & Mplayer Charger! So what makes this so special? Well a couple of things actually! Firstly it's highly portable and is able to charge both mobile phones and MP3, MP4 players on the go. How is this possible you might ask, well it uses a single AA battery, giving about 2 hours of talk time on your mobile phone and an few hours of playtime with your Mplayer. The charge time is basically the same as for using your normal home charger.

The charger consists of a metal tube, slightly bigger than the AA battery it houses and plugs into your phone, giving you that extra time you need. What makes this product so handy is that you can get hold of a AA battery no matter where you are, there's always a shop around the corner, day or night. The one I bought came with six different adaptors, apparently there are several ones available, so before purchasing, check whether or not it actually fits your phone.

It apparently also comes is several different colours: black, pink, gold, silver, and turquoise so you can match your outfit! At R85 a piece, I've already used mine and it works perfectly!

Ninja - Looking For A Home

Hi guys! Ninja is +- 5 months old, is a male, and loves children! His previous owners left him at the SPCA, unwanted! He's urgently looking for a new home as his time is up, he's been to long at the SPCA and every day is more money. We've bee thinking of taking him in as Tammy our 1 year old Labrador is looking for a friend to play with, the only problem being that the SPCA has no idea how he will react to our cat as he's a Jack Russell, Fox Terrier cross, who loves to chase cats!

We will go and have a look on Saturday, so if you're interested, leave me a note and I will try and get more info! He's at the SPCA in Cape Town - Grassy Park!

Life Comes With Problems

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin -- real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."     -- Fr. Alfred D’Souza

Life always brings problems. We really can’t live without them.

And so it helps to shift our perspective. We can stop trying to avoid the problems. We can stop feeling victimized by what’s happening. Instead, we can consciously work with the challenge of the moment to learn more about ourselves and the world. When we make this shift in attitude, we discover ourselves to be strong and powerful.

"Every lesson is a widening and deepening of consciousness. It is a stretching of the mind beyond its conceptual limits and a stretching of the heart beyond its emotional boundaries. It is a bringing of unconscious material into consciousness, a healing of past wounds, and a discovery of new faith and trust."     -- Paul Ferrini

Music - William Joseph

South Africa has always been a bit behind time when it comes to TV programs and music! Unfortunately for me at this moment I'm experiencing both at the same time. This is due to me watching the Dr. Phil show today, as I saw William Joseph, who plays the piano like I haven't seen in quite some time! His new CD is called Beyond and according to his web site, has already been released, but unfortunately not in SA. I went to the YouTube web site "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFXAPsZQZzg" and found the clip where he plays live on the Dr. Phil show! It's a must see, those fingers does magic. His web site: http://www.william-joseph.com/.

For those loving classical music, this is definitely a must have CD. If you perhaps have any info on this CD, please let me know, I will really appreciate it.

Laugh Of The Day

Mickey 'not an agent of Satan'

Cairo - An Egyptian Muslim scholar has called for an end to risible religious edicts after a Saudi cleric said Mickey Mouse was an agent of Satan who should die, local media reported on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohamed al-Munajid, a cleric who often appears on Saudi television and who is also a former Saudi diplomat in the United States, said last week that mice were "agents of Satan" and should be killed.

"Sharia (Islamic law) calls for the extermination of all mice. That includes the rodents as well as 'the famous cartoon mouse'," he said.

He blamed Mickey Mouse for causing people to become soft on mice.

However, Suad Saleh, a woman preacher who hosts a popular television programme on fatwas, or religious edicts, told the English-language daily Egyptian Gazette that Munajid's ruling "tarnishes Islam's image".

"An edict should be based on knowledge, logic and reason," she said. "Yes, mice should be killed when seen according to Islam's teachings. But it is illogical to deal with a cartoon character as a live mouse and kill it."

In 2005, the former dean of Egypt's Al-Azhar University, the world's oldest Islamic seat of learning, said in a widely criticised ruling that nudity during sex annuls a couple's marriage.

Saleh said Muslim clerics should learn to become more media savvy.

Earlier this month, another Saudi cleric said owners of satellite television channels that broadcast "immoral" content deserved to die.

Cape Town Air Show - Ysterplaat

For those of you who where in Cape Town last weekend, you would have noticed the Ysterplaat Air Show! Accept for all the action in the air and on the ground, people were also able to hear them breaking the sound barrier hundreds of kilometers away! The Big Bang was surely nothing compared to this!

They had daily flying displays which include latest Air Force aircraft (Gripen, Hawk, Agusta A109, the SA Navy’s ship-borne Super Lynx helicopters, the Rooivalk and Oryx).

On display in the general aviation sector they had the latest aircraft like Dassault’s 7X business jet (which can fly non-stop from Europe to Johannesburg) and NAC’s new Hawker 4000. A new addition to the show was a dedicated section for light sports aircraft, including home-built and kit aircraft, micro lights and gliders.

A SA Navy submarine and frigate and a British Royal Navy ship were berthed at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront during the show.

A friend of mine Jacques had the honour to take some photographs, which I will add for you to admire, as it's not everyday you have these machines in your back yard!

For more stunning photographs taken by Jacques, take a look at his website: http://www.jakesphotos.co.za! You can also have a look at: http://www.aadexpo.co.za/gallery.php?image_index=0, the official Air Show web site!

I Want One Of Those - Polaroid PoGo

It seems that at some point everyone has been the proud owner of a Polaroid Instant camera. Back in the 80's, or was it the 70's, instant photography was all the rage, and no party was complete without an instamatic camera at hand to immortalise embarrassing moments on square, slightly sticky and rather odd coloured prints. Nowadays the digital camera reigns supreme, but if you're nowhere near a computer printer everyone has to scrum around a tiny screen (eating your battery power) to check out your latest hot shots.

Well now Polaroid have come to the rescue with the PoGo Instant Photo printer. It's about the same size as an up market digital camera, so it will fit comfortably in your pocket, and you don't even need any cabley things to hook it up. It runs on Bluetooth for mobiles and PictBridge for cameras so you can effortlessly transfer any pics for printing and it only takes about 60 seconds to spit them out. There's no ink cartridge or ribbon to speak of, you just use the special heat sensitive paper included and the printer will do the rest. Digital quality and 80s fun in an instant. Be sure to get extra paper as printing out shots is highly addictive, especially when you're out and about.

Features
A pocket-sized mini printer for your digital camera or mobile.
Connect using Bluetooth or Pictbridge.
10 sheets of printing paper.
The printing paper is heat, water and smudge proof.
The sticky back on photo will let you decorate with your memories.
The printer can print up to 20 prints from a full charge.
Requires a USB port when connecting to a computer.
Requires a 9V charger (included) to charge internal rechargeable battery.
Suitable for ages 14 years+.
Size: 12 x 7.2 x 2.32 cm.

What Are You Thinking?

"I never know what I think about something until I read what I've written on it."
                                                                 -- William Faulkner

What have you been thinking lately?

Do you know? We get so accustomed to our thoughts that we lose awareness of them. We don’t see how they are stuck in old habitual patterns, most of which don’t serve us.

Take time to journal so you can capture your thoughts on paper. By doing so, you will begin to take control of your mind and use it to best advantage.

"When you choose to understand [and] exercise control over the functions and attributes of your own mind, you will be empowered to create your own reality, to be completely self-reliant and totally prosperous."

National Braai Day

Yes, can you believe it, Braai4Heritage is an initiative that calls all South Africans to actively celebrate their common heritage by braaing on Heritage Day, 24 September. The only problem with this is that not all South Africans braai, this probably excludes about 70% off all South Africans.

Anyway that's just my opinion, happy Braai4Heritage day!

Even Google is in on it

No Charge For Love......

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of little boy.

'Mister,' he said, 'I want to buy one of your puppies.'

'Well,' said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, 'These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.'

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. 'I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?'

'Sure,' said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. 'Here, Dolly!' he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.

Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

'I want that one,' the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, 'Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.'

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, 'You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.'

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

'How much?' asked the little boy. 'No charge,' answered the farmer, 'There's no charge for love.'

The world is full of people who need someone who understands .
