Beiging 2008 Paralympic Games

Today, when the Beijing Games begin the South African Paralympic team are ready to rock 'n' roll, limp 'n' lope and spin 'n' speed their way to what the team are quietly predicting will be a successful games.

South Africa will target quality rather than quantity at the Beijing Games, and hope to return with 15 gold medals, the same number they won in Athens. Eight of the nine athletes who won those medals have returned for Beijing, but there is an awareness that Paralympic sport, like able-bodied swimming and athletics, has improved exponentially in the four years since Athens.

May our team do well and show what they are capable of, go SA!

Out of the 20 sports we will take part in 9: Aquatics, Athletics, Cycling (Road), Cycling (Track), Equestrian, Powerlifting, Rowing, TableTennis, Wheelchair Basketball, and Wheelchair Tennis!

To date we've got 1 gold medal, thanks to Natalie du Toit winning the Women's 100m Butterfly! This surely being one of several for Natalie. At the moment we're in 11th place.
