Cape Town Air Show - Ysterplaat

For those of you who where in Cape Town last weekend, you would have noticed the Ysterplaat Air Show! Accept for all the action in the air and on the ground, people were also able to hear them breaking the sound barrier hundreds of kilometers away! The Big Bang was surely nothing compared to this!

They had daily flying displays which include latest Air Force aircraft (Gripen, Hawk, Agusta A109, the SA Navy’s ship-borne Super Lynx helicopters, the Rooivalk and Oryx).

On display in the general aviation sector they had the latest aircraft like Dassault’s 7X business jet (which can fly non-stop from Europe to Johannesburg) and NAC’s new Hawker 4000. A new addition to the show was a dedicated section for light sports aircraft, including home-built and kit aircraft, micro lights and gliders.

A SA Navy submarine and frigate and a British Royal Navy ship were berthed at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront during the show.

A friend of mine Jacques had the honour to take some photographs, which I will add for you to admire, as it's not everyday you have these machines in your back yard!

For more stunning photographs taken by Jacques, take a look at his website: http://www.jakesphotos.co.za! You can also have a look at: http://www.aadexpo.co.za/gallery.php?image_index=0, the official Air Show web site!
