Absa Currie Cup fever hits Durban this weekend when the Sharks host the Vodacom Blue Bulls at The Absa Stadium Durban.

There is no extra motivation needed to lift a team like the Sharks when they play the Blue Bulls – the match itself brings with it a massive amount of expectation and excitement

Over the history of rugby tournaments, clashes between the Bulls and Sharks have always been special. Cast your mind back to 1990 and the Absa Currie Cup Final at Loftus. Or more recently, the 2007 Vodacom Super 14 Final at The Absa Stadium Durban. 

Simply put, every encounter between these two sides is special, worthy of a final, and fans who are undecided about what to do on Saturday afternoon couldn’t find much better entertainment than coming down to the Shark Tank to catch this exciting match. 

As the top two sides in the tournament, both need the win to remain in contention for home ground advantage come the semi-finals – provided they both make it that far (and are expected to) – and added to that the extra quality that the returning Springboks in both sides bring to the game, this could be just about the game of the round stages.
